Privacy — browser extension

Last updated 26 July 2026

The extension helps you save works from Archive of Our Own to your library at ff-library.com. This page explains what it can see and what it can't.

What it does

  • Checks whether you’re signed in to your Fan Fiction Library account.
  • Reads the publicly visible details of a work you choose to save — title, author, fandom, summary, word count, chapter count, rating — from the page you’re already looking at.
  • Sends those details, and the collection you picked, to ff-library.com so the work lands in your library.

It only reads and sends anything when you actively click “Save to library”. Nothing happens in the background.

What it doesn’t do

No browsing history

It doesn’t collect, store or send anything about where you go.

No page tracking

It doesn’t watch which pages you visit.

No reading uninvited

It doesn’t touch AO3 works you haven’t chosen to save.

No third parties

Nothing is sold, shared or sent anywhere else.

No analytics

No trackers, no advertising, nothing counting you.

No passwords

It never sees your password — not for this site, and never for AO3.

What it handles

Your session. The extension uses the ff-library.com login your browser already holds, so it knows which account to save to. It never sees or stores your password.

The work you save. Sent to ff-library.com the moment you save it, and stored in your library there. All of it is information you can already see on AO3.

The extension talks to exactly two websites: Archive of Our Own, to read the work you're looking at, and ff-library.com, to save it. No other servers, ever.

Storage

The extension stores nothing personal on your device. Anything you save lives in your account at ff-library.com.

Permissions

  • archiveofourown.org — to read the details of a work you choose to save.
  • ff-library.com — to check you're signed in and save works to your library.
